Chile is prone to volcanic activity due to the many volcanoes within Chile and the many surrounding the nation. There are 2,000 volcanoes in chile, they are stratovolcanoes . Experts believe that 500 volcanoes are active. 60 Volcanoes have erupted in the last 450 years and more are believed  to erupt in the future according to experts. Chile has worked to combat the effects of earthquakes by working with the International Platform for Reducing Earthquake Disaster also known as the IPRED. The IPRED is an organization that conducts research within the field of seismology.
