 Droughts in Chile 

Chile in no stranger to environmental issues. An ongoing issue in Chile are droughts. A drought- a prolonged dry period. The droughts in Chile have impacted the nations and it's people severely , interfering with it's mining and green businesses.  According to an article by Earth Observatory, the droughts present  in chile have led to several other issues such straining the nations water supplies, damaging and parching crops, and even increasing the chances of wildfires for the nation. 

During the winter of 2023, Chile received rain and snow which temporarily eased the ongoing issues caused by the drought. The drought in central Chile has been an ongoing issue for the past decade. Chile began to experience a drought in 2010's - according to Earth Observatory Perception  in Central Chile( where most of the population is present in)  has been below average  and since then the nation has dealt with the consequences of droughts and everything else that follows. 

How Chile is combating the droughts - Chile is dealing with the issue head on. . . 

1. Protecting and restoring through natural solutions 
2. Reforestation 
3. Forest Protection 
4. Wetland Restoration

    Hello Jassibe I must say you did an excellent job showing and telling us what is wrong with the country you picked especially when you talk about how droughts are affecting Chile's environment and the people there my country that I picked which is Italy is also kind of having the same problem as your but in the form of Heatwaves which are causing tremendous damage to Italy environment and people there as well I hope both are countries are making great strides to solve this situation

    Hi Jassibe! Amazing post, you do very well in illustrating the problem and focusing on one topic which is the more prone extreme weather to be present in Chile. I was not aware that Chile was more prone to droughts, but now looking back it does make sense. Your blog was very insightful. India, the country I choose, also had some droughts but not as frequent as Chile as it varies. Chile seems to take more steps to mitigate and prevent droughts compared to India. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work!

    Hi Jassibel, I really enjoyed reading your blog post this week. You provided detailed information on the extreme weather in Chile. It is very different from my country as the water is plentiful and the Bahamas get tropical storms rather than droughts. Keep up the good work!

Plate Tectonic January 31, 2024  Chile, like many South American countries, lies right on top of the South American plate. According to an article covered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Chile lies right on top of the South American Plate and is surrounded by the Nazca Plate to the West of the country.
